After several new owners, the ship ran aground on Baylys Beach in 1993. Thanks to the efforts of sailing enthusiasts and Jacques Brel fans, including the Wittewrongel brothers, the wreck was excavated in 2007 and arrived in Belgium in 2008. After more than 15 years of restoration, the ASKOY II was launched on April 9, 2024. The name ASKOY refers to an island near Bergen in Norway.
